Welcome back to school!

 Algebra 2
pds. 2,3 and 6 - Mr R introduced himself ... we completed and turned IN a Student Information paper ... we watched a video and answered questions (wrote answers on a T.O.D.) about the difference between "Probability and Odds"...Mr R shared the math BLOG (you are looking at it right now!) ... we discussed key patterns we need to remember (subtracting with negatives, order of operations, rules for working with signed numbers) ... we picked up our math class syllabus ... we turned IN our T.O.D. for classwork credit ... Mr R taught us how to play Cows & Bulls (we played against our partners) ...  assign: read syllabus , tear off letter and return parent signature section (keep syllabus in our math binder) ... 3-ring binder 

 Algebra 3
pd. 8 - Mr R introduced himself ... we completed and turned IN a Student Information paper ... we discussed Math "Magic" (knowing a pattern that others do not see, yet), Mr R demonstrated how he knew a number that a student picked by using powers of 2! ... Alg 3 textbooks were picked up (we gave Mr R the book # and wrote our name inside the front cover) ... syllabus was passed out and discussed ... we played Kahoot (we reviewed the laws/rules of exponents) ... assign: read syllabus ... 3-ring binder

pd. 3 - turned IN parent signature slip ... we discussed today's EQ "What key properties do we need to remember to be successful in Algebra 2?"...1/2 sheet T.O.D. used to complete 4 warm-up problems ... goal setting activity / Mr R gave us a goal setting example, we were given several minutes to write our own goal for Alg 2, we used the S.M.A.R.T. steps to explain why and how we were going to meet our goal)...we discussed the syllabus in detail ... we went over the work and answers for the warm-up problems, we discussed common errors ... time was given to start our practice wksht ... assign: Practice 1-1A wksht ... 3-ring binder

pd. 8 - we took a few minutes to fill in textbook receipt slips (they will be returned to us at the end of the year when we return our textbook) ... lesson 1.5 "How do I simplify expressions using exponent rules?", we looked up the rules for working with exponents and filled in our note sheet with examples (we discussed answers and where common mistakes are usually made) , Mr R gave us more practice examples and we showed our work at the board ... we had a few minutes to start our practice assignment ... assign: page 46 , #'s 14-36 "evens", 44, 48, 64, 68, 74, 100, 104, 116 ... be prepared for a quiz next week

Mr R gave us a goal setting example, we were given several minutes to write our own goal for geometry class, we used the S.M.A.R.T. steps to explain why and how we were going to meet our goal)...we discussed the syllabus in detail ... we discussed how our binder would be organized (we picked up a sheet that we will use to record our passwords for IXL and GMM websites, keep this in a page protector after the syllabus) ... Mr R assigned us a calculator number while we started our practice wksht ... assign: Practice 1-1A wksht (explain the pattern that you see in each problem) ... 3-ring binder

pds. 2,3 and 6 - Binder Organization discussed, Mr R showed us an example of an organized Algebra 2 binder, we picked up a "passwords page" and a page protector for it (passwords for the on-line textbook, GMM and IXL will be given at a later time) ... we red pen corrected Practice 1-1A, discussed common errors, self graded (out of 5), turned IN ... lesson 1-1 continued, "What key properties do we need to remember to be successful in Algebra 2?", in small groups we completed a "Mat" Activity matching properties ... time given to start practice wksht ... assign: Practice 1-1B wksht

pds. 5 and 7 - in small groups we compared and repaired our Practice 1-1A answers, class discussion Q's & A's, then we turned it IN for credit ... we picked up our Chpt 1 SLM, we read it and then we previewed the vocabulary we would be talking about, we put it in our note section ... next, we filled in Notes 1-1 ... time was given to start our practice wksht ... Assign: Practice 1-1B
